Who is the hero?

2019-20, Ink, watercolor and acrylic on paper

This series investigates the aspects of familiar everyday visuality. I appropriate, decontextualize, and juxtapose forms and images from popular iconography, particularly those of Disney imagery. The childhood identity through popular imagery emerges as a bright and busy aesthetic that promise happiness and prosperity. The artworks function as memory signs that question contemporary society's values through the deconstruction of the narrative device of the images.
